Is it normal for my cats eyes to diolate when she plays with a toy?

My cat normally has very narrow middle part of her eyes but when I get out a toy she turns into a different cat almost. Her face narrows and the middle(black) part of her eyes take up all of her green colored part. Is this normal? I own another cat but he's younger and has been inside all his life while she lived outside for 4 years before we rescued her. Is it possible she has brain damage from her past outside? Should I take her to the vet?|||Yes very normal cat behaviour,it is happening as she sees the toy as prey, so as they would in the wild the eyes dilate to be able to get a better chance of catching whatever has caught their attention, she is fully focused when this happens,

cats get carried away at these times so be care-full with your fingers,as claws and teeth hurt! it wouldn't be intentional, its just your cat is totally focused on what is her prey, and as she was lived outside for 4 years then she is an excellent hunter, her old ways are still there!

so yes not to worry she is a normal healthy cat,who just loves the toy so much, well done you for making a good toy choice for her.|||Yes it's normal! maybe especially for a cat with a very intense prey drive.

It can be even a problem in cat photography because they use toys to get their attention and they can get so focused on that toy their eyes get wide and dilated and don't show much of the iris colour or usual (relaxed) eye shape.. LOL.|||I think it's perfectly normal, if you mean that her eyes get bigger when she is being pouncy and playful :P. My little guy does it all the time and it freaked me out - I thought he had mental issues LOL - but I think it's just a sign for us humans to get ready to watch our fingers :P.|||Yes its normal. My cat her eyes get like that when she is playing. I didn't think it was normal at first either and I found it a little un - nerving. Until I started to observe her. Now I know even when she is even plotting somthing. Her eyes will semi dialate. And next thing I know her eyes are fully dialated and glowing as she is pouncing and bouncing around the house.|||I think she's okay. My cat does that too, I think it has to do with concentrating, its just her hunting instinct coming out.
