Why is my African Gray Parrot regurgitating food and stuffing it in a toy?

My African Gray is 9 years old I don't know the sex of it. The last week it has been playing with his toy in very unusual ways like rolling it and trying to sit on it and carrying it.|||Sounds like nesting behaviour. Birds regurgitate food to feed to their young, and the rolling and sitting sound like she has decided that the toy is her baby.|||Sounds like your bird is a female and thinks that toy is her baby. I recommend you wash the toy every day because spoiled food carries bacteria that will make your bird sick. Eventually you will have to take the toy when she is not looking. If she sees you take the toy she may attack you because thats what a mother bird does to protect her young. Replace the toy with something else that she likes to play with.

Bubba|||sounds like he as found a friend in his toy and is giving it some parroty love ...nesting behaviour!! bless..|||your grey is an adult bird it is regurgitating to the toy because it sees the toy as its mate it has the instinct to feed the mate as it wants to prove itself worthy of being a mate

I would suggest another grey as company maybe and if possible an opposite sexed bird yours I feel that your bird wants to breed.so let it look into it .|||Sounds like he has found himself a mate! I bet it's a male. They regurgitate their food and feed their mates. My bird has done that to me before. He is fine, but you might want to keep his toy clean. He just loves his toy! :)|||your bird is probably a female, and that means she is in heat =] its all natural because in the wild when birds have babies they regurgitate there food 2 give to there young [which she thinks her toy is her child]. just make sure she has a sufficient amount of food every day. =]
