How can I get rid of the sticky-ness on my squish toy?

I recently bought a blue penguin that could be squished and played with. After the toy got dirty, I washed it with soap and water, and now it is very sticky. Will the sticky-ness wear off? Or how can I get it off?|||If it was cheap, buy another.|||wash it again with just luke warm or cold water.
