I have a 2 year old puggle who was has done this since we first got her. Sometimes she licks it a lot before she starts this. She puts her toy doll in her mouth and her paws and then softly rocks back and forth, usually falling asleep afterwards. She's very protective of her dolls. She loves any new doll we get her wont let our other two dogs destroy them.|||I hope your mix breed dog isn't inbred, a lot of people who breed mix breed dogs will do this. I love 'protective,' does she let you take them or does she snarl at you too?
This isn't normal, kind of weird. Good luck, I hope she dosen't give you problems as she matures...I would be worried about that.|||This is probably because she is using them as her "puppies". This is normal, and shouldn't be too harmful, unless your dogs get into a fight.|||This is a nursing activity. Some animals will do this behavior to calm themselves its like sucking your thumb as a child. As long as she will allow you to remove the toy without getting mad then leave her alone. If her behavior is not a problem then let her do it.|||It's not that unusual for your dog to do that. A lot actually do.... My dog has a bear of mine that he decided was his when he was a puppy that he sucks on. He lays on it, sucks on its nose and kneads it. From watching him it seems to be a way for him to relax (kind of like a security blanket). The only times he does it is when he is going to bed or if there is a lot of commotion.|||because she wants to
