My 12 week old son has made an attachement to a small furry blanket. He likes to snuggle it and he usually falls asleep snuggling it, but we don't let him sleep in his crib with it (for obvious suffocation reasons). At what stage in development, or age, can a baby start sleeping with a stuffed toy or blankie in their crib?|||A baby can be left alone with a blanket or stuffed animal once he can lift his head considerably well, on his own and is able to turn over too. You should still check on him periodically (for suffocation) until he is able to pull if from his head on his own (I know a 12 month old who nearly strangled herself because she didn't know how to pull the blanket off her head).|||u can start giving him the blanket if he can move or rise his head so just be careful and let him sleep with it just keep an eye on him good luck|||One years old.
Because of the risk of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) and death from suffocation, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) says not to let your baby sleep with any soft objects until he's 12 months old. This includes stuffed animals, dolls, blankets, quilts, and other bedding. Many experts suggest waiting until your baby is at least 2 years old to let him sleep with a pillow.|||I would say as soon as he can roll over and lift his head well.
My baby also cuddles with a blanket, but the one we have in his crib is knitted, so has "holes" in it - so no concern about suffocation. Plus, he can roll both ways and lift his entire upper torso. He is now 4 1/2 months, but started this at about 3 1/2.|||My son likes a little fury blanket too. He is four months old. If it's a nap and I'm around and awake then I let him sleep with it, he just hugs it. Then at night when we go to sleep I don't let him have it. Sometimes when he is awake he rubs his face on it which is scarey to me. So I probably won't let him sleep with it at night until he is around 1 year old or can realize when he needs to move the thing away from his face.|||I believe it's one year. Better safe than sorry.|||they say 12 months is when you can start letting them use a comforter so I'm guessing its the same age for comfort items|||One Year Old!!!!!!!! No sooner.
