My boyfriend's niece is turning two and her Mom is having a family birthday party. I don't want to get her any toy items, as she has many already. What can I get her that would be fun, yet maybe something she can learn from. She is very developed as far as reading goes. Any ideas would be appreciated.|||Well, my daughter is turning 3 next month so about the same age. I can also remember things we tried to get her to do at 2. They make those wonderful Crayola Wonderpaints. You can only paint on the special paper. The paint doesnt show up in color anywhere else. Art supplies are always wonderful because it isnt a toy and it gets them interested in doing other things.
A gold fish would be good. Just in a bowl. Teach her to feed it with you and kids love fish.|||How about some tickets to see a kiddies show ?|||Well if you are thinking educational then books, colouring %26amp; craft at least craft things can be used and thrown I still think of these as toys though...lol.
As for things I don't class as toys then clothes, pj's, bags, suitcases, bedroom furniture and bedding etc. Children actually enjoy getting pretty dresses, or cool clothes, or nice new pj's. Mini wheelie suitcases are great for kids from this age onwards they pack for sleepovers holidays etc making work for Mum to empty suitcase and start again (you can get kiddie designs with matching backpacks I am not completely practical).
Will probably think of loads more and will post them in an edit if/when I do.|||My son LOVES books. can't go wrong with that!|||I like the arts and crafts route. One of the best presents my daughter got came from Michael's, and it was a tote that contained finger paints, brushes, gadgets to dip into the paint and press onto paper, etc. She also got a plastic cover-up to keep it off her clothes, and a huge pad of paper. What an awesome gift that was!!|||My SIL just got my two year old a "TV" tray that sits on the floor at his level. The tray also has side pockets. For those she filled with crayons, coloring books, notebook, stickers, play-dough, and cutters. I have gotten so much use out of it as its set up for different activities that he can do by himself when I'm cooking/cleaning. As you probably guessed not all of the stuff has been left in there for him to play with at his disposal but it has been worth hours of entertainment that uses his imagination.|||Puzzles or books are always great ideas. My nephews at that age always really liked the character clothes and pj's.|||candy|||A chalk board with the option to change for painting as she grows. A bike, Clothes, musical instruments, hard cover books, card games like memory or cartoon characters.
Being a girl, a pocket book with essentials inside, gift cards to toysrus, barnes n nobles.
