What dog toy is stronger than a Kong?

And have you tried it also where can it be purchased?

Kong's last for about a month or so but is there any other toy that might last longer?|||good question! My pitbull eats kongs too- even the toys labeled 'pitbull tested' are generally no match for his chewing, hah! His favorite toy hands down, is the extra large Romp n' Roll ball by Jolly Pets. It is a giant rubber ball about the size of a soccer ball, with a rope going through the middle. He usually pulls the rope out after a couple good play sessions, but he continues to chew on the ball for a long time without destroying it. I buy him a new one every 3 mos or so when it gets too many tooth holes. :o) Jolly Pets makes several different toys that are good for the particularly strong chewer, check them out!|||ok my ye lab is stronger then your pit bull

|||my dog she is a ye lab|||Black kongs are the strongest. Tire toys are pretty good. So are "monkey fists" large knotted rope balls. Busy Buddy has treat toys that are made out of bullet proof plastic. Jolly Balls the large ones are good and cannot be punctured.. I could go on and on|||I tried something called a Zisc for my Jack Russell, and it lasted longer than most other toys. It's something like a frisbee but more pliable. Even though he ripped it in half, he still plays with both halves - two toys for the price of one! He likes to get it in his mouth and shake his head back and forth and make vicious sounds. He seems to really like it. The website where you can find it also has other toys that are guaranteed to be tough and they will replace them one time if your dog kills them.|||Our shelter has found Buster Cubes to be fairly effective. They are hard plastic cubes that you can insert kibble into them and the dog has to throw the thing around for the kibble to come out. They're really loud, but for a food motivated dog they're wonderful. It's also shaped so that it's hard for them to get their mouth around it to chew on.

What was your relationship like with your favorite childhood toy?

what you did with your toy?

where did you take it ?

what was special about it?

etc...|||My favorite was a Pocahontas baribe doll (the one from the disney movie) I took her everywere until i was about 16, sounds funny i know, but i just loved my doll. she was special because she was original. she started falling apart, hair falling out, facepaint wearing, limbs falling off... so i started reserching doll repair, i started with getting her a new body, then i lookin into paint, i would give her different makeup everytime i had to repaint her. i learned to sew the hair back in, so i gave her different hiarcolors... this started me on customizing other dolls which is a great hobby of mine now. i remake and sell various dolls and make good money doing it. the doll is in terrible shape these days so i carefully wraped her up and put her in a shoebox in a safe spot. she currently has blue eyes, green eyemakup and red hair.. i have since taken a new pocahontas doll and made it in her image without the wear and tear of play. i say the original is "retired" lol. so my favorite childhood toy ended up makeing me good $$ latter in life.|||Well I can't remember now because it's been more then ten years but I remember I had a stuffed barney the dinasoar and I took him everywhere with me when I was just a little girl it was special because when I have kids in the future I'm gonna intruduce them to barney to.|||My favourite childhood toy was a little bear named BJ Gallagers. He was smaller than your fist and I literally took him EVERYWHERE. He was special because he was really cute and I used to make him bash all my other toys XD. Unfortunately over time his limbs started to fall off. I was really sad the day he died :(|||I got it when i was about 12. It was always fun to play with and never talk back to me.And every time i used it ,it would always stand up at attention for me.I still have it to this day.It became my best friend. ..LOL i can't go on...lol..................

Does your cat have a problem with sharing their toy mice?

I have several kitties in the house and also have several toy mice (stuffed etc.) One kitty, smokey will not share with any of the other kitties. He hoards them and growls and attacks the other kitties if they come near "his mice"

Does your kitty act like this?|||yes. I have 15 rescue cats and they all get along very well and share their toys...except eddie izzard- he is naughty. He takes all of the mousies and feather toys and runs off with them. He growls and tries to take the toys away so he can hide them. He does horde them, well he used to, until the other cats found his secret stash under one of the big chairs on the sun porch.|||My boy does when he is playing with his favorite feather stick. How can you tell if a dog is a Toy/Teacup just by looking at it?

I've been to hundreds of pet stores and i cant figure out how to tell if a dog is miniature. I want a dog that will way no more than 5 pounds when it is fully grown, but the guys at the stores tell me all the dogs they have are teacup or toy and i dont know what to believe. Is there any way of telling just by looking at the dog? Also, which dog would make the best house pet (house trained).|||Sorry but i dont think you should get a pet from a pet store because most pet stores get their puppies from puppy mills. for more info go to www.humanesociety.org/puppymills|||1. There is NO such thing as a teacup dog

    2. There are only Toy and Miniature version of CERTAIN breeds.

    3. No more than five pounds? Then you best bet is to get a small breed from a REPUTABLE breeder who standards reads 6-7lbs and under

    Chihuahua

    Maltese

    Pomeranian to name a few

OR you take your butt to a shelter or rescue and get an adult small breed who is fully grown and that weight.

    4. Pet shop employees lie.

    5. The dog that makes the best house pet is the breed that suits YOU. No one can tell you that, you have to figure it out yourself.|||First of all, there are very large differences between Toys and Miniatures depending on the breed you're looking at.

Teacups do not exist in the realm of dogs. These are sickly, undersized runts sold for triple the price and often come with multitudes of health problems.

The smallest breed is the Chihuahua. I believe the breed standard calls for under 7 lbs. If you're looking at a pet store, I strongly urge you to reconsider as many of these (if not all) are supplied by puppy mills.

Those jerks that work in pet stores will tell you anything to get your money, and you are gullible enough to fall for it

Go to the pound or a rescue to get a dog.

Why do you need one less then 5 pounds?|||You've been to HUNDREDS of pet stores. I find that really hard to believe. What is it that you people don't understand about there is NO such thing as any kind of teacup dog? It's a poorly bred runt, bred by an unreputable backyard greeder, puppy mill or pet store. And of course you know that pet stores get their pups from puppy mills, correct? And of course you wouldn't want to support someone like that!|||The employees at hellholes of pet stores LIE,dumby!!!

A good toy for a 3 year old with technical interests?

Can you suggest a toy for a 3 year old toddler who LOVES to take things apart and put them back together? I have considered the plastic hammer, screwdriver, bolt set; however this will not be enough stimulation in the short/long term.

Feedback appreciated.|||Kinex has different sets your son or you can choose from. The age on the sets are different. Some start at age 3.|||That's what I was going to suggest, the work bench set- I am guessing this is a boy. If you have an educational supply store around- they have awesome puzzles and games to stimulate logical thinking. Three is a good age, because some of the toys that were previously forbidden are now ok to play with, I think it depends on your child and his interests and abilities. He might like tranformers or bionicals. I say it's never too early to start teaching them how to play chess or checkers! Check them out.

I'm sure she likes the squeaky sound it makes. All dogs love squeaky toys and I'm sure that everyones dog who has a squeaky toy, has a favorite they carry around with them too! It's perfectly normal! I'm sure that if you can afford to properly care for her and another companion for her, that she would appreciate having a new friend to play with!|||I adopted my oldest dog from a dog rescue group. What is the best dog food brand for my Toy Poodle?

    Hi-

I have a 2 year old red toy poodle. I was wondering what would be the healthiest dog food for her (i.e. California Natural, Eukanuba, etc.)?

    Thanks,

    Todd

PS: The dog is healthy, with all her necessary vaccines and shots, and she has no worms nor diseases... in case that helps pinpoint the best food for her haha...|||   Food is the fuel of all life. The quality of the fuel directly relates to how well the body can operate. Low quality dog food, such as Beneful, Pedigree, Ol’ Roy, Purina, Eukanuba, Iams, Science Diet, etc., are filled with *empty* calories. These foods are made with keeping costs down in mind, *not* in the best interest of nutrition. When you think of healthy food, do you think of Nestle of Mars (both heavily invested in producing candy)? What about Del Monte (heavily invested in produce, especially corn…)?

Heck, just go to Beneful’s or Pedigree’s websites, they’re full of promotions, coupons, streaming audio and video, and heart-warming catchy slogans; they know that as long as they paint a pretty picture, the “sheeple” of the world will think it must be good because they got a warm and fuzzy feeling by the advertising.

Let’s take Pup-peroni (by Del Monte), for example, a quick scan of the ingredients raises eyebrows:

       - Meat By-products – Definition: The non-rendered, clean parts, other

than meat, derived from slaughtered mammals. It includes, but is not

limited to, lungs, spleen, kidneys, brain, livers, blood, bone,

partially defatted low temperature fatty tissue, and stomachs and

         intestines freed of their contents

       - Sugar – Because all dogs need sugar, right?

       - Propylene Glycol – Here’s a few uses of this chemical (from Wikipedia):

+ As the main ingredient in deodorant sticks

+ As a medical and sexual lubricant

+ As the killing and preserving agent in pitfall traps, usually used

            to capture ground beetles

+ As a solvent used in mixing photographic chemicals, such as film

            developers

+ In hand sanitizers, antibacterial lotions, and saline solutions

How about Pedigree (made by M%26amp;M’s company Mars), you know ‘Really good food for dogs’:

       - First ingredient – GROUND WHOLE CORN (read, nutritionally void filler)

       - Corn Gluten Meal – This is a well-known (even patented) herbicidal agent

used for weed control in lawns and gardens!

       - Wheat Mill Run – Definition: Commonly referred to as "floor sweepings",

this ingredient is nothing more than inexpensive filler with little or

         no nutritional value.

       - Chicken by-product meal: Consists of the ground, rendered, clean parts

of the carcass of slaughtered chicken, such as necks, feet, undeveloped

eggs and intestines, exclusive of feathers, except in such amounts as

might occur unavoidable in good processing practice. Chicken by-product

costs less than chicken muscle meat and lacks the digestibility of

         chicken muscle meat.

Chemical additives aside, let’s analyze the recommended serving size between Pedigree and a quality food like Orijen. Being that Pedigree is mostly fillers, your poor dog has to eat so much more just to get the calories to survive when compared to a quality food that actually contains real meat. You ready?

        Pedigree (50-75lb. dog): 4 to 5-1/3 cups a day

        Orijen (45-75lb. dog): 1-3/4 to 2-1/2 cups a day!

Orijen costs more, but you feed less, AND the quality is superb. Just look at the difference in the ingredients and it’s painfully obvious which is a quality food.

Pedigree: GROUND WHOLE CORN, MEAT AND BONE MEAL, GROUND WHEAT, CORN GLUTEN MEAL, ANIMAL FAT (PRESERVED WITH BHA/BHT), WHEAT MILL RUN, WHEAT FLOUR, NATURAL FLAVOR, SALT, POTASSIUM CHLORIDE, CARAMEL COLOR, CHICKEN BY-PRODUCT MEAL, RICE, VEGETABLE OIL (SOURCE OF LINOLEIC ACID), VITAMINS (CHOLINE CHLORIDE, dl-ALPHA TOCOPHEROL ACETATE [SOURCE OF VITAMIN E], L-ASCORBYL-2-POLYPHOSPHATE [SOURCE OF VITAMIN C*], VITAMIN A SUPPLEMENT, THIAMINE MONONITRATE [VITAMIN B1], BIOTIN, d-CALCIUM PANTOTHENATE, RIBOFLAVIN SUPPLEMENT [VITAMIN B2], VITAMIN D3 SUPPLEMENT, VITAMIN B12 SUPPLEMENT), MINERALS (ZINC SULFATE, ZINC PROTEINATE, COPPER SULFATE, COPPER PROTEINATE, MANGANESE PROTEINATE, POTASSIUM IODIDE), ADDED FD%26amp;C AND LAKE COLORS (YELLOW 6, YELLOW 5, BLUE 2, RED 40)

Orijen: Deboned chicken, chicken meal, turkey meal, russet potato, lake whitefish, chicken fat, sweet potato, whole eggs, turkey, salmon meal, salmon and anchovy oils, salmon, natural chicken flavour, sunflower oil, sun-cured alfalfa, dried brown kelp, carrots, spinach, peas, tomatoes, apples, psyllium, dulse, glucosamine Hcl, cranberries, black currants, rosemary extract, chondroitin sulfate, sea salt.

You can apply this same analogy TO EVERY SINGLE PET FOOD IN THE GROCERY / CHAIN PET STORES!

NEWS FLASH: Science Diet is crap food too! Yes, your vet makes *MONEY* by selling it, not to mention a SIGNIFICANT number of veterinary school programs ARE FUNDED by Hill’s!

There is nothing scientific about their “diet”. The science they use is how to make a profit.

Quality foods: Innova, California Natural, EVO, Karma-www.naturapet.com, Wellness, Wellness Core, Orijen-www.orijen.ca, Canidae, Merricks, Artemis, Taste of the Wild, Nature's Variety, Solid Gold-Barking at the Moon, Go!, Now! Canidae- www.canidae.com, Eagle Pack Holistic Chicken (avoid regular Eagle Pack)and Timberwolf.

Bottom line, read ingredients. They say a lot!|||Fetch has given all the good brands. I personally give my maltese/poodle puppy Orijen puppy food. I potty trained her on it because she loved the taste of it and thought of it as a treat. We did not have any weaning issues from the store bought dry kibble that the breeder fed her.

It is a little harder to find and you will need to use their website to locate a store that carries it. We are very happy with it and it has no fillers.|||California Natural is good food.

Avoid Eukanuba, it's expensive to buy and very cheap for them to make, you're paying for the name. The food is garbage.

they resemble each other very much. they have pretty much the same temperment- i think rat terriers are easier to train and handle. but i would say they are both good. they usually always need something to do- they are very active. watch out if you have them in the house they CAN and probably WILL rip up everything. its just a natural behavior for that type of breed.

also, take them to obedience asap! that will help. they are more fun (at least i think) when they are trained and they are very good dogs to teach for tricks!!

  • Can I mix a toy poodle and a golden retriever?

I have a 3 year old golden retriever and today I just bought a toy poodle. My question is, can you mix a toy poodle and a golden retriever without artificial insemination?|||That would be a bad idea. Please spay and neuter.|||Whoops. You failed. No. No. Spay and neuter.|||Why would you want to? Do you want to become a BYB??|||in theory you possibly could...

    but here's the thing...

do you love/care for your dogs? yes?

    then DON'T mix them

spay and neuter and love the breeds you have instead of breeding mutts.

all the best!|||I am not sure. Ask your vet. But here is a picture of a poddle/golden retriever.

http://images.google.com/images?hl=en%26amp;so鈥?/a>|||WOW. are you seriously going to pay like $1000 to have your crap-mixes artificially inseminated???

just get the dog fixed and save the animal shelters a lot of trouble when all of the puppies end up stuck there later in life.

the pups would not be worth ANYTHING (maybe like $20) and it would SOOOO not be worth it. plus if you just bought the dog, you have to make sure that the dogs are both checked for the health problems that the breeds have. I dont even think that the ICSB (international canine semen bank) would let you do that lol that goes against everything REAL dog breeders go for.

just get the dogs fixed and your happy. If you really want to get mixed puppies, just go to the pound and adopt one they have PLEANTY from people who do the same "hmm i wonder if they can mix? naw, they are the wrong sizes! WHAT DO YOU MEAN MY DOG GOT PREGNANT?!?!?!"

they could do it on their own but thats more work than it is worth and your golden will probably break the toy poodle's ribs and or spine. get her fixed to save the golden from going at it anyway, he doesnt know hes causing damage. (im assuming your golden is the boy. if it is the otehr way around, i would still not do it the golden could turn around and throw the dog and hurt it, not to mention snap its neck in one bite)|||Spay %26amp; Neuter.

All I have to say.|||I think breeding is wrong especially if they end up in a pound or hurt. Technically, you could. But I wouldn't (Also, it wouldn't be the best looking dog in town)|||if you want the golden retriever to kill the poodle yeah.... Nah jk But I still think it's a bad idea. Like she said, Spay and Neuter them.|||It is possible. I suppose.

    WHY WOULD YOU?

Please spay and neuter both of your pets. If you insist on breeding you should know what the costs will be:

Both dogs should be at least two and have passed all their health clearances.

For the Golden: OFA hips, elbows, cardiac, and thyroid with a clean CERF exam (eyes) in the twelve months before she is bred. (health tests, dam: $500+)

For the Poodle: OFA hips, elbows, thyroid, current CERF plus a vet check for signs of eczema or allergies, and a test for STD within six months before breeding (health tests, sire: $500+)

Show both to at least one performance/companion title and their championships in their respective breeds (training classes, equipment, and entry fees for two dogs: $1000+).

Vet care for pregnant dam, $200+

Emergency fund for C-section, puppy formula, emergency spay, neonatal ICU, etc $2000+ ($2000 would cover the c-section)

Additional food for lactating dam and food for puppies, $200

Puppy worming, shots, and dewclaw removal, $50/puppy

So... if she had, say 10 puppies, your would need to charge $500 per pup to break even ($400 if absolutely no medical emergencies happened). That is, assuming you can find someone to buy a mutt with no guarantee about what traits it got from mom or dad (will it be 7 pounds or 70 when it grows up? shed? curly or straight hair? mellow like mom or yippy like dad?) at that price.

And, of course, there is always the possibility that she or he is sterile and there will be no pups, or that there will only be one or two, or that she manages to conceive and then her and all the puppies die when something goes wrong.

In that case, it's only about $5000 down the drain. Oh, and your pet is dead.

If you want to get into dog breeding, choose ONE breed, do your research, and find a breeding mentor who is responsible and successful with their dogs. In about five years you might be ready to breed.

Sorry to be such a downer, but you should know the risks before you bring new lives into the world.|||honestly, what're you thinking? you "bought" a dog like it's a purse and now you want to make puppies with two dogs that are completely different sizes? i sure hope that the golden is the female because you are going to hurt the poodle otherwise.|||You could, its not a good idea to try it, but you could.

If anyone wants a cross between a poodle and a big/medium size dog they'd usually use a regular big poodle.

and I hope you're just curious, you will NOT keep the puppies, and if you give them to other people you're sending dogs in the shelter to "Death Row"

EDIT:You won't get $1000 for them, thats only from a breeder, you'd be lucky if you get 100.|||If the golden retriever is the female, you may have to hold the poodle up while he gets it on with her though.|||Golden Retriever x Poodles

    1. They don't shed and are allergy friendly.

Fact Most Golden Retriever X Poodles will shed (about 1 in every litter will not shed).

Most will aggravate allergies. It takes multi-generational breeding to breeding that reduce the allergy.

This means mostGolden Retriever X Poodle will shed and aggravate allergies and asthma like any other dog may.

    A note about shedding:

There is no way to know for sure if a cross-bred pup will not shed until it gets its adult coat

    (between 12-18 months old).

Some pups appear not to shed until the adult coat comes in.

    2. Lower maintenance breed! I will not have to cut the non-shedding coat!

Fact: The non-shedding coat needs to be cut 3-4 times a year. (Same as a Poodle)

Regular brushing is a must or the dog will get matts and matts can be a breeding ground for parasites! (same as a Poodle)

As well all ear hair must be plucked so the ears won't get infected - (same as a Poodle.)

Click here to see Labradoodle Maintence from an Australian Labradoodle Site!!!

    3. They are easier to train than a Lab.

Fact: Due to the crossing of two different breeds there can be absolutely no guarantee a cross-bred pup will

inherit the easy to train Standard Poodle personality.

It could inherit the Lab train ability.... which is not a bad thing... Labs are not stupid! But it typically takes more repetitions to train a Lab.

    4. They are the latest fad! A new breed!

Fact: YES they are the latest fad! Unfortunately that means once they are no longer a fad there will be many homeless pups in animal shelters.

    * This has already begun in the USA and Australia. Many of these new 'designer dogs' are available at a discount prices at animal shelters.

They are not a new breed yet! The Labradoodle (or Goldendoodle) will not be considered a new breed genetically speaking until breeding two Labradoodles together will produce off spring which all look and act similar to all Labradoodles. A breeding must produce the same type (phenotype) and only that type generation after generation. This is also called breeding true or having a stabilized breed.

    5. They are cute!

Fact: * The curly haired Labradoodle looks as he does because his hair is cut into the 'Labradoodle' cut.

(Anyone with a quality pair of clippers and a bit of time can learn to clip ANY curly dog into the same

cut! This is not rocket science!)

    * The thing to remember is ALL puppies are cute.

    * No one can tell what a cross-breed will look like when it is an adult!

    * Remember most of the dogs life will be spent as an adult.

    * That cute puppy stage only lasts for a few MONTHS

    6. They will be healthier because they are not inbred like purebred dogs.

Fact: * Not all Pure-Bred dogs are inbred.

    * Paris Poodles are not inbred!

    * Pure Bred Standard Poodles are statistically the healthiest and longest lived breed of dog.

    * There is a misconception that by breeding two different breeds together you will produce a healthier

dog. Unfortunately this is not true.

    * A goldendoodle can get the genetic problems common in BOTH breeds instead of just one.

    One mis-informed goldendoodle breeder wrote:

"90% of all dog genetic health problems are recessive. This means that in order for a puppy to have the health problem, both parents must carry it. By breeding two dogs of different breeds, without similar health problems, we are breeding puppies with far less health problems! Crossbred dogs have far less health problems, (hybrid vigor)."

Using this theory the Lab should NOT be bred to the Standard Poodle because they share most of the same health issues! Obviously this breeder did not do their genetic research.

The bottom line is both purebred and cross-bred dogs are susceptible to potential health problems.

The best way to reduce the risk of health problems is to not inbreed, health test breeding stock and

MOST importantly make sure your breeder does extensive 10 generation pedigree research.|||No you have to get both spayed and neutered ASAP

    1. You're not going to make "mini goldendoodles" you will make mutts that have NO guarantee on sizes.

    2. And these same mutts get dumped in shelters months later. Just because other people are ripping others off and making shelter mutts does not mean you should do it too.|||if your golden wants bred bad enough she will get bred...my sisterinlaw had a boxer that got bred by a dachshund...she laid down so he could get her...now she has 9 pups she calls them doxers...

When you were a kid what was your favorite candy or toy?

I was just thinking about those Super Hot War Head candies. They discontinued them. That was my fave candy when I was a kid. My favorite *toy* was my diary. I actually still use one.

What was your fave candy and toy and do you still like it, as an adult?|||My fav candy was dark chocolate. Yes I was an odd child, and even today the darker the chocolate the more I love it. At least my younger brother and sister never stole any of my candy cause they hated it. As for toys I have to say sidewalk chalk and bubbles. They are not really toys, but I loved them, and still do. Oh and I loved Teenage Mutin Ninja Turtles, so I had all the action figures and I loved legos and remote controled race cars.|||Well I'm only a teenager but my favorite candy when I was a kid was twizzlers. I loved those things so much because they tasted so good and they didn't cause my stomach to hurt so much if I were to eat a lot of it like chocolate would do.

As for toys - well I was never one who owned a Barbie doll - never. I hated the girl so much. In fact, whenever I would get a Barbie doll for Christmas I would suggest we give it to some charity or to Goodwill or something so that the needy kids who actually like her can have her.I didn't feel I could "relate" to her because she had a family and everything and at age six/seven that was the age when I decided I didn't ever want to have kids. So my favorite toy was the Bratz dolls. I loved how there were different races and genders. Their clothes were a lot more modern and they were young. I loved to put on fashion shows for them which was also how I got into photography (I do it every now and then). I would get my camera and dress the dolls like they were actual models and put on a photo shoot for them. Some of the pics were actually good. I also started making my own clothes for them but I quit because I hated the way I made them.

Now as an teenager, I still do like Twizzlers but I like Sour Patch Kids and Airheads more now. I like stuff that's a little more sour. As for toys, well I've grown out of toys but I still do like the Bratz dolls. I've created such fun memories and they are what gave me story ideas to actually write. In fact, I write stories on them on FanFiction.net from time to time so I can say I still like them.

I know I'm not an adult, but I thought this was an interesting question and it indeed has brought back a flood of memories. :D|||As a kid my favorite candy was a "chic-o-stick" not sure on the spelling, it was kind of like the inside of a Butterfinger. What are some good food to feed a toy poodle?

my big sister is purchasing a toy poodle( the tiny ones you can stick in your purse). he's really beautiful and healthy. i just wanted you guyz to give me an idea of some good foods he can eat. i was thinking of ceasar, but will it be a good idea to mix it with a little dry food?|||They don't belong in purses. Anyway, Cesar is a very low quality dog food.

Not all pet food is made equally. A lot of it is full of corn, by-products, dyes, unhealthy preservatives, filler grains and all sorts of nasty stuff. A lot of pet food companies are perfectly happy to dump cheap leftovers in. Will it kill your dog? No, it has to be nutritionally complete and safe to even be marketed. Is it healthy? Not by a long shot.

Corn is a low quality ingredient you never want to see in your pet food. Corn and low quality grains are two of the biggest culprits when it comes to food allergies in our pets.

Thankfully, there are some excellent dog foods being made these days that include organic, human grade ingredients rather than trash not fit for human consumption.

Examples of low quality foods to avoid: Anything you can find in a grocery store will be low end, Purina, Iams, Eukanuba, Science Diet, Royal Canin, Pedigree, Kibbles n' Bits, Beneful, Ol'Roy.

Examples of high quality foods to look for: Innova, Wellness, Solid Gold, Canidae All Life Stages, Fromm Four Star, Merrick, GO Natural, Nature's Variety Prairie, Nature's Logic, Artemis Fresh Mix.

Although the high quality foods are more expensive, you're getting what you're paying for. Less filler material means more concentrated nutrients... this means you typically need to feed far less of the high quality food than you would of the low quality one. Which also means less poop!

A great option is to go with an entirely grainless diet. Many of the high quality foods now put out grainless formulas. Some good grainless diets include: Innova EVO, Wellness CORE, Blue Wilderness, Nature's Variety Instinct, Orijen, Horizon Legacy, Merrick Before Grain, Canidae Grain Free All Life Stages, Fromm Surf %26amp; Turf, Now! and Sold Gold Barking At The Moon, Taste of the Wild.

Some pretty decent foods can even be found in common pet stores. Petsmart carries Blue Buffalo products (such as the excellent grain free diet Blue Wilderness). Petco carries Wellness, Solid Gold, Natural Balance, Eagle Pack Holistic, Blue Buffalo, Castor %26amp; Pollux Organix, Pinnacle, and Halo. If you can't find a food, most of the high quality food brands have websites with store locators on them.

Remember that foods should be switched gradually, especially when switching to a higher quality one, so as not to upset tummies.

Another option for feeding dogs is to feed raw. This is something that should be thoroughly researched before being attempted:

Look for foods without corn, or by products. Nutro is a very good food and their prices vary. The one I feed my pets is Wellness. It is a hollistic dog food and is more balanced than nutro.

Avoid soft foods, because its bad for your dogs teeth. hard food has more nutrients and helps keep their mouths healthy.|||I hope she never puts that dog in a purse. Read the ingredients before you buy.

Here is my "short list" of rules when I am looking at dog food ingredients:

    1) When I chose a dog food, I chose one high meat content. I want to see preferably at least 2-3 out of the top 5 ingredients be meat or meat meal (first ingredient must be!). Meal is simply the meat with the moisture removed.

    2) I want to see higher quality grains, such as barley, brown rice, and oatmeal, instead of seeing wheat and corn. Or an alternative starch/carbohydrate such as potatoes or sweet potatoes.

    3) I don't want to see any byproducts.

    4) I don't want to see a lot of fillers.

    5) I don't want to see preservatives that are believed to be carcinogens (BHA, BHT, ethoxyquin).

    6) I don't want to see artificial colorings such as the Red, Blue, and Yellow dyes.

    7) I don't want to see added sugars (sugar, corn syrup).

    8) I don't want to see mystery meats (meats identified only as "meat" or "poultry".)

There is no food that is the *best*, different individual dog may thrive on different foods. What you want to find is the HIGH-QUALITY food that *your dog* does best on.

    * Wellness

    * ZiwiPeak

Or check this website; the 4, 5, or 6 star rated foods are all good foods. http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_鈥?/a>

    ---

Higher quality food may seem more expensive at first, but it evens out. The higher quality the food, the less fillers eaten (and therefore the less poop comes out the other end). Your dog eats more of a low-quality food to try to get the nutrition it needs, and most of the food just passes right on through. Also, higher-quality food will make your animals healthier, so you save money on vet bills in the long run.

    ---

    What *NOT* to buy:

Stay away from grocery stores brands. They are low-quality foods chalk full of fillers, preservatives, dyes, etc.. (Grocery store foods are those like Beneful, Kibbles n Bits, Old Roy, Alpo, Pedigree, Purina, etc.)

Beware "premium" foods. "Premium" does not always mean high quality food. Most of these foods have the same types of ingredients as grocery store foods, just a bit better quality of those not-so-good ingredients. (Premium foods are those like Iams, Eukanuba, Science Diet, Bil-Jac, Royal Canin, etc..)

Another thing to be wary of: A lot of vets will recommend what they sell in their office. They get profit from the brands they keep on their shelves, that's why they push it. Truth is, vet schools don't focus a lot on nutrition. It's not saying that a vet is a bad vet because he recommends those foods, a lot of vets just are told "this is good food", so they pass the message along without proper nutrition knowledge. Also, some dog food brands (like Hills) support vet schools, so vets have heard of it from the time they start college, which makes them think it's good as well.

Hills company, the makers of Science Diet, are heavily involved in vet schools. "Hill's scientists author more than 50 research papers and textbook chapters each year and teach at leading schools of veterinary medicine" (Source of quoted section: http://www.hillsvet.com/zSkin_2/company_鈥?/a> )

"Big box" petstores like Petco and Petsmart rarely have quality foods. (There are some higher quality foods at those locations, but most of the foods aren't.)

Also, grocery stores and Walmart aren't good places to buy food either.

Your best bets for getting quality dog food are:

    - small, locally owned petstores

    - dog boutiques

    - farm supply stores

    ---

When switching foods, do it gradually. I do this over about a two week timespan:

    1/4 food A, 3/4 food B

    1/2 food A, 1/2 food B

    3/4 food A, 1/4 food B

    all food A

    |||Never buy a dog from a website - no good breeder sells their puppies to strangers they haven't met, or ships tiny puppies across the country, so the only puppies you find for sale online are badly bred ones from puppymillers. Why on earth would you buy a puppy you hadn't been to see and interact with in person, anyway?

Try using Petfinder to locate Poodles in rescues in your state: http://www.petfinder.com

Alternatively, contact the Poodle Club of America who can refer you to good, responsible breeders, provide advice about how to identify a quality puppy and breeder, and also give you more information about breed rescue organisations: http://www.poodleclubofamerica.org/|||You really don't want to buy a dog from anywebsite, and especially one that "has a good selection"- it's a bad combination! If you want a poodle, please go to www.akc.org and check out the breeders listed there.|||Yeah...www.akc.org is a great place to get a GOOD HEALTHY dog.|||A good breeder or rescue organization are the only places where you'd want to get a toy poodle. Didn't you watch Oprah? Puppy shops and websites buy the puppies from terrible "factories" called puppy mills. The parents of the dogs sold at the shops and sites are up to their ears in filth and are never cared for. They are bred over and over until they die. People in puppy stores and websites will lie because they've been trained to ("Of course our pups come from good breeders!") but this is false. They will do anything to make a buck. Don't give them your $.

Check Akc.org if you want to find a breeder. Be sure that the pups have had shots and meet the parents of the litter. Ask a lot of questions. Supporting rescue organizations is a great help, too.

What is the scientific explanation of electric toy goes on and off on its own?

My boyfriend recently passed away. (four months ago)

The other day, I had a small electric toy going off on its own. The toy is very small and it is battery operated. It was all of sudden turned on by itself without nobody touching it.

My friend says that my loved one came back paid me a visit. Well, as nice as it sounded, I am a big skeptic of this whole paranormal stuff. So what is the Scientific explanation of small electric toy (battery operated) turns it on by itself? thank you|||Most likely a loose wire, either to or from the battery or connecting the "on/off" switch. A small vibrations near the toy, caused by someone walking nearby, a chair being moved, or any other motion that could vibrate the floor, could cause the loose wire to move just enough to make an electrical connection, turning the car on. Another vibration may have moved the wire enough to disconnect it, or it may have just slipped back on its own.|||could be a loose wire a bad connection or low battery's, not a person

Zander|||Is the toy motion senstive it to may be the cause. also sometimes when the battery's energy is going low it causes electrical surges before it finally goes out. my calculator ti-89 does it to me all time it gets bright for about 2 seconds and then shuts down.

Why does my cat like to drown his toy mousies in his water bowl?

They are the kind of toy mousies that are made of real rabbit fur, I think. he carries it around and plays with it a long time, then finally drowns it. he just started doing it , he used to just play with it.|||One of my cat does the same thing. I think she really enjoys torturing the fake mice and then just drowning them. She has taken to throwing the mice into the toilette recently too.

You kitty sounds very cute.|||This is pretty typical. Some cats will put just about anything they are playing with in their water bowl. Some will even drop toys in the toilet.

It must be an instinctual thing.|||Cats often clean their food (kill) in the wild.

Its natural %26amp; nothing to worry about. When

your cat is done with the mouse just hang it

up to dry.|||i dont really know butttttt... maby he wants to "hunt" the mouse!!! lol he sound cute i hope this helps!!!|||It's almost like he hates mice, isn't it? Pretty odd behavior for a cat, one might say. (:-:)|||Man, your cat extremely smart!

Do not worry, let him at it.

A cat has only 9 lives so do not worry.

The moussie, nothing!!!|||Why does he smell his litter box before he gets in? Why does he compulsively lick his butt? Some questions just aren't meant to be answered.

Should children be allowed to play with toy guns? What are the rules you set?

Just curious what others are doing. My boys have begun to play with toy guns -acually they aren't even toy guns - a toy drill used as a gun, a squirt gun w/o water. They like to pretend to shoot bad guys and fall over like they've been hit. It's pretty good acting, but I'm not sure about the gun play.|||I was so bent out of shape on this one for a while, until i realized that yep!! boys make toy guns out of anything! I just perfer to keep them lazer guns and squirt guns.|||Nope. They don't need to play with any toy guns.

Get them a decent Lego set instead.|||All young kids like to play "cops %26amp; robbers". The trick is to only allow "guns" that do not look real. For example, a "space laser gun" that is bright blue would be acceptable.

A replica of a hand gun that was black or metallic would not be allowed.

Accidents with toy guns and future problems with toy guns are rare....but why take the chance.|||I never allowed toy gun play in my house...

When I was 14 I babysat for a family who allowed toy gun play in thier home and had real guns one of thier children shot another to death playing guns and picking up a real one...

I never wanted the possibility of this happening so I never allowed my children to play guns because the real kind are far to dangerous... My husband and I have several guns including shot guns rifles and hand guns all are kept unloaded under lock and key.. Our children all know how to use them as we have taken them target shooting since they were very small (3-4) they know never to point any gun no matter what kind at another person.... They can learn self defense with guns later if they so choose, for now the only guns are real ones they can shoot under close supervision at targets and nothing else..|||I never let my son play with guns I had a cousin who was shoot be his brother playing cowboys and Indians so you have to make your own decisions about it.|||I have had this same question in my head for my own children. I do not buy toy guns and won't allow them to be given as gifts either. I have found a few things to be true about the whole gun thing and play shooting..... it's not so much the toys that are a question but why, how and where they came to realize that they could play like this. My 3 year old has done it very few times like your with a toy drill after seeing something on tv. I think if we watch what our children look at on tv ... on EVERY aspect of VIOLENCE then we are more able to keep a good handle on this. Teach them that guns are for the police, to hunt and to protect our families not to play.

also I would consider that anything that resembles a real gun to a police officer could cause nothing but trouble. I have heard of kids getting shot after police assumed the kids had real ones... come to find out they were toys.|||I am old %26lt;smile%26gt; so I can tell you my opinion based on years of experience. When I was small we were not permitted to have weapon toys in our house, and I had the same rule for my own sons, who are now grown. NO weapon toys, and NO violent games (like pretending that a ruler was a sword, for example.)

I have raised terrific sons and they plan to have the same policy with their own children.

Best wishes from a grandma-aged person|||i won't buy a toy gun and never will. They can use their imagination and use sticks etc,|||I was really uncomfortable about it when my started! But, I relaxed. How many generations of our dads, grandads played war? Cowboys an Indians? Mine tend to play Buzz LIghtyear and shoot at Zurg's evil minions!

Typically we instruct them to not aim at eachother; just makes me still queasy!|||Im not either. It is tricky. I have a daycare and we don't allow guns but because we don't allow them they are always coming up with something in place of a gun like you say the toy drill. I don't know if they are fasinated by it because it's not allowed or they are just fasinated by them. Kids will be kids but I wouldn't allow them.|||Our children (all 3 girls) played with toy guns....No shooting at each other No I'm gonna kill you or anything like that but all of our children were raised around guns and were taught proper gun safety......but we live way out in the woods (45 minutes from a town) and shooting is something we do on an almost daily basis so guess your surroundings should also be taken into consideration we wouldn't send our kids into the city with guns toy or otherwise|||In our home we allow water guns in the summer, but that's it. There are no pretend guns, no pretend shooting each other. My oldest is 8 at this time and we have already started a unit on gun safety(we homeschool). By the time he is ten he will definitely know all the gun safety rules, and probably the hunting rules and maybe how to take apart and clean a gun and put it back together(depends on his maturity). Our family is full of both hunters and army personnel so guns are very serious in our family and everyone is taught to respect them and how to use them safely. Anyone more interested usually goes into the army. Guns are not toys and should never be used as such. They are serious weapons and tools that should only be used by people who know what they are doing and are aware of the safety rules(and follow them). My children think only bad people use guns carelessly. We have not yet made them aware of any children shooting children or other horrific gun crimes. Once that happens there will definitely be multiple discussions on the true "badness" of irresponsible gun use and storage I am sure. We will cross that bridge when we get there. As far as play guns go they are aware of why they are not allowed to have them and they never complain. Lord knows there's enough other crap to play with lol. Good Luck|||Yes they should, just as their parents and grandparents did. It's sad that our society has come to a point where people are scared to let their kids play cop's, cowboy's, and army men. How did the past generations ever survive? But this is only a small part of what we have become.

With that said, yes let your kid's be kid's. But in today's world as we now know, make sure the guns do not resemble authentic firearms and that they have the bright colored tips on the barrels (orange).

.Also be aware of just because someone has a colored tip on a firearm, or a completely off the wall color such as blue.......it may still be a real firearm.|||i let mine play with action man(uk equal of GI JOE) but i dont let them have toy guns. thats because i have 4 and a small fight can turn into a riot and toys like guns do encorage that sort of behavour i find

i dont think long term any harm comes from it. and as long as its just acting i think you should let them do it, but as soon as physical fights come from it, take them away.|||Let them play.

When they get older teach them to respect guns, take them target shooting its a lot of fun bet you will enjoy it too. They will learn about the power and the consequences so they aren't going to be going psycho in high school. I didn't learn to shoot until I was 30 years old and I really like shooting targets with BB and pellet but its an expensive hobby. Just don't make it some sort of taboo mystery.|||I dont set the rules, I am only in sixth grade but hear me out!! If i was in your posision, I WOULD SAY: "DON`T POINT AT PEOPLE WITH THE TOY GUN" If tthe kid wants a toy gun, get him/her a NERF gun. the bullets cant hurt you! Take this advice!!!!!!!!!!|||I have girls so they never wanted to play with guns. Honestly if I had boys, I wouldn't allow it, I would want them to play some thing a little nicer.|||I played with toy guns as a child, I was taught that even though they were toys to never point one at anyone (except a water gun, because you have to point it at your "victim" if you want to squirt them). It never hurt me. I don't own guns now and don't fee the need to. Playing with toy guns if taught PROPERLY and if taught values and morals as children does not lead to Columbine type events.|||I have a 19 year old and a 14 year old son and when I was considering parenthood, I was absolutely certain that no child of mine would play with a toy gun.

As you've already found out, a boy will shoot even if they're using their fingers. Boys socialize with each other using more aggressive games and they play at having conflicts. When my oldest son started asking for guns for Christmas, I was horrified but after watching him play with his friends, I relented and got him the one he wanted. He was thrilled and it didn't increase or decrease the amount of "war" games he was playing.

My youngest son recently asked for an air rifle. My husband told him the story from his own childhood when he accidentally hit a small bird and killed it. My son was upset that that could happen and he never asked again. It's clear that neither of my boys wanted to ever hurt anything with their guns.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the phrase "boys will be boys" was coined. I think boys being boys is a wonderous thing and, as the mom of boys (one raised in an all girl family), I have come to appreciate boy games and rough housing.

My 19 year old is as gentle and kind a person as any mother could want. He's been a volunteer in our community for years and playing with guns have had no negative effects. My 14 year old has tired of guns (girls are now more interesting) and he also has a sweet and loving nature.

Do you think that Woody and Jessie from Toy Story are brother and sister?

My friend and I love Toy Story, but there is something that we don't agree on. She thinks that Woody and Jessie are brother and sister, but I don't think so. I was wondering if anyone knew a better name for it. It usually had 2 different color oils and one dripped into the other one but they never mixed. |||I thnk I know what you mean, but i just want to clarify:

Is it like a plastic toy where there are 3 compartments and one compartments contains a ex. blue oil, and the other compartment has a red oil and if you flip it like a egg timer, they'll form little bubbles of those colors in the middle compartment (which tends ot be clear and have little gears or rivets that the oil droplets rotate) right?

Pet stores often carry puppy mill puppies which usually have been taken from the litter too young and are often not healthy, besides they are overpriced. Check the newspaper for puppies for sale.

By the way, puppies often do not make good surprise gifts, make sure she wants one, and that it is OK with anyone else in her household.|||Don't do it. Good Luck!|||Call your local humane society or dog pound they might have one or know where to find one.|||Consider adopting from a shelter. Maybe a teacup would not be what she really wanted, they are prone to health problems. Stay away from pet stores and pet shops if you just have to get one, go to a reliable breeder.|||Please don't surprise her with a puppy. Find a reputable breeder or breed rescue or even local shelter with dogs you think she'd like and take her there. That way she can pick out a puppy she likes. Tell her what you want to do and she can tell you if she is really ready for the commitment and work a puppy requires. Make sure she knows EVERYTHING about what poodles need as far as grooming, training, etc so that she is well prepared. Dogs are living things, not toys or jewelry, they are a huge responsibility so they should not be adopted/bought on a whim. Toy breeds especially can live a very long time (up to 15 years, sometimes more) so it is a major commitment to get one.

BTW, no reputable breeder or shelter/rescue would let you adopt a puppy as a surprise gift, so you will have to tell her ahead of time. The only way to really surprise her would be to buy a dog from a pet store, which would be VERY unwise and likely result in heart break for her. Another thing to avoid is any dog sold as a "tea cup." Only BYBs and puppy mills use that term. They want to make you feel like you are getting something special when you are really getting a poorly bred runt that will likely suffer life long health problems. Some will even use the term to describe all their puppies, even though some will be bigger than what the standard states.

It crawls when you hit it on the butt and I just had really bad images about when it was time for my new baby to be in the floor lol( my oldest was not quite 2) I also dont allow water guns. What toy should i get for my scruffy haired terrior?

Go for hard rubber balls, Kongs, Frisbees, etc. Rope toys are pretty tough too.|||If he is going to be home alone for a while get one of those rubber tubes that you hide treats in. Where can I get an electric shocking toy made from a wooden box and metal rod, that plugs into a wall socket?

When I was a kid, my friends dad had this strange toy. It was a rectangular wooden box, about 8" X 3" X 3". It the end was a metal pin than ran the length of the contraption. An electrical plug came out the other side. The further you pulled the pin out of the box the more voltage you felt run up your arm, until it was hard to pull it at all.|||Lawsuit city - no one would market such a thing today. Would have to have a highly current limited high voltage variable transformer inside to even begin to be safe to touch.|||Too dangerous! At least, these days it would be considered dangerous.

I had one as a kid also, but it was battery operated, and had a vibrator to produce the interruption. I hooked up quite a lot! I am sure it has put me in good stead on the odd occasions I have received shocks in my life, in preparing me for what to expect.

It was indeed a well built thing, a cedar wood box with the coil in it, the vibrator on one end energised by the primary circuit. The rod was a brass tube with a bakelite knob, and the handpieces were also brass with bakelite knobs, connected to the machine by cotton- covered conductors. I think it would have been built somewhere around the 2nd war, or even earlier.

Im planning on buying a Plan B deck but I am debating if i should get a backup Toy Machine or Zoo York deck, I need a backup since i go through boards like crazy. Anyway whats your opinion?|||DEFF buy a Plan B.

but i would get a Toy Machine.

Toy Machine is good. I mean.its

got concave.i would skate it anyway.

But yeah.|||oh ur a boarder alright! U tear it up everyday!!! i know because i do 2. I know how to kickflip and all! I'd have to go w/ a zoo york because one of my friends wheres a shirt that says that!!

What is a stupid, easy-to-make toy involving fluids?

My friends and me have this stupid science project where we have to make a toy that involves fluids. Any ideas?|||a water gun|||Water balloons. Filled with pee.|||A water balloon. They're pretty stupid, especially on a string. Say, haing them from a board and make that silly little toy with the knocking balls all those stupid CEO's like having on their desks.|||How about a bubble blowing loop - that involves using water, detergent and glycerin in the right proportions to get good bubbles.|||Baking soda rocket. See below.

How do I get the fist back onto this stupid toy?

My son got one of those Terminator toys that shoots the fist off the robotic arm but I can't figure out how to get the darn hand reattached. It's got two little prong thingies that are preventing it from fitting together but I can't find any kind of release button to lower the prongs. There don't appear to be any missing components so I'm at a loss. If you have this toy or know how to work it please enlighten me because my boy really wants to play with it.|||Its honestly hard to answer that.

But, proportionally, put the fist/hand back on the arm the way it wouldn't look abnormal (ie no sideways or backwards). Don't force anything. If it looks like that is how a fist would be a robot/person the try and figure out the mechanics from there. Also try and get your son to show you what button or what he does to shoot it off so maybe that would reveal to you more of the secrets haha.

    Good luck.

What do you think is the theme of Toy Story 3?

I love Toy Story 3. I found the ending really sad and being 17, it reminded me so much of my childhood and when I used to watch the first one as a kid. I don't think today's kids will fully appreciate it as much as our generation does, because we were the ones who grew up watching Toy Story. It's like the end of an era now, like we're saying goodbye to the characters just like Andy is saying goodbye to his toys.

What do you think is the message or theme of Toy Story 3?|||I don't think there's a message in it. It's just a movie that so many people can relate to. That's why it's so emotional. I, too, grew up with Andy, so I felt for him.|||Growing up, letting go/appreciating the past without clinging to it, the perils of codependency, and the importance of friendship, loyalty %26amp; trust.|||I found it really sad but i guess the world just moves on, ya know?|||Growing Up?|||Don't have kids.|||idk i never saw it lol

Can you please tell me the like toy soldiers by eminem keyboard notes?

Can you please tell me the like toy soldiers by eminem keyboard notes. If anyone tells me the correct one i shall be so happy so please tell me.|||I know this isn't helpful, but just listen to the song and if you know the notes on your keyboard, play them back to match what you hear and note them down.

For example only, if at the lyrics 'heart to heart' you heard the notes BCB and chord C in the background, write it down like this:-

    #C

    Heart To Heart

    B C B

    etc.

Hope this helps if you can't find the sheet music! -x

  • Why is it hard to train a toy dog?

I was wondering why it is hard to house train a dog in the Toy Group? Like Pappilons?|||Most people carry toy dogs. They then gain this personality that they are the king of the world. Why would a king listen to their "servant?" It's called the Napoleon Complex.

Many people also use puppy pads to house break their toy breeds. This only confuses the dog, and gives the dog the message, "It's ok to go to the bathroom inside the house."|||Small breeds seem to be more high strung with shorter attention spans. You have to keep training sessions short and fun and rewarding for your pup. Don't feed your dog before starting a training session and use the pup's food as rewards. Keep trying and if all else fails enroll in a training class nearby|||toys are hard to train. you need a real dog, duh!|||bacause they are full of energy and can't control it!
