What if my dog swallowed something from his chew toy?

she is chewing on a toy right now, and she tears that thing like there is no tomorrow! and i am keeping on worring if she will swallow like an stuff eyeball, the stuffing, or something like that. will it be bad if she swallows something from that chew toy? or not? What if my dog swallowed something from his chew toy?I think their is a difference between toys and chew toys. Chew toys are usually durable. They can withstand many hours of chewing before they need to be replaced. These are toys like Kongs and certain Nylabone products. These are usually safe for even powerful chewers.

Other toys are not. Plush (stuffed) toys, non durable plastic or rubber toys, ropes , tennis balls, etc. These toys should only be used when interacting with your dog and never when unsupervised. These toys can be broken apart and injested. Although your dog will likely pass most swallowed materials (expecially the stuffing) the harder pieces can cause vomiting, digestion blockages and even death from choking. If I buy these toys for my dog I use them for their purpose (ball for fetch, rope for tug) and then I take them away and substitute them with other chewable toys.

For Rawhide toys. Most of these are safe for your dog to chew/eat on a limited basis. They can not digest rawhide so dont overdue it or it could cause digestion problems. Also, its safest to only give them when under supervision because of choking risk.

And Finally....

If you suspect your dog may have injested material from a toy...

If it is not poisonous. Monitor your dog. Contact your vet if you notice decreased apitite, bowl movements, decreased energy etc... They can do an xray to check for blockages.

If the material is poisonous contact an emergency clinic/vet immediatly. Depending on the poison and elasped time they can help you cause vomiting with hydrogen peroxide or Ipecac or suggest other treatments.

Hope this helpsWhat if my dog swallowed something from his chew toy?
Always monitor your pet when she is playing with toys. You can prevent them from ingesting pieces of it. But it does happen. Consider getting a tougher toy as well. Most quality dog toys are made with non-toxic materials but that's not to say something can't happen. If you suspect that your pet ingested pieces of it, it's best to check their stool for those pieces. Depending on the size they may become stuck in their intestines and cause a blockage which could cause death or a serious operation. You'll know if the dog has a blockage - they won't go to the bathroom and likely won't eat..may vomit. If you don't find the pieces in your dogs stool after its first or second time going to the bathroom after ingested, consult with your vet. On that note, It's recommended never to give your dog a toy that wasn't made for dogs - for example, giving them a child's stuffed animal, NOT recommended. What if my dog swallowed something from his chew toy? It's entirely possible that she'll swallow something. I have two big dogs that are very gentle with stuffed toys. I also have a 4 pound chihuahua that tears them limb from limb. She DID swallow some of the stuffing. I took her to the vet and he laughed at me. Told me she'd be able to wipe her own butt after pooping. It turned out just like he predicted. BUT, it scared me badly enough that she doesn't get to play with anything that comes apart anymore. If your little girl is really rough with her toys, get her something indestructible for your own peace of mind. What if my dog swallowed something from his chew toy?
usually there is no problems with dog eating that stuff. you have to think that the company making the toys is thinking ahead about dogs tearing it to shreds and swallowing pieces and making sure it can be safely pased and swallowed, otherwise they'd be getting sued left and right. but i you are worried about your dog swallowing pieces of toy i'd avoid all plush toys, and getting something that cant be torn apart like kongs or something like that. What if my dog swallowed something from his chew toy? It's normal for a dog to rip up his toy and swallow little pieces of it...you just find it outside a while later. My ex used to laugh about the neon blue spots in our dog's poop from eating something.

Toy parts are better than my genius dog getting ahold of a piece of packing styrofoam from a package I got last night. Before I even noticed he ripped it apart. Stupid me, thought he did what he does with cardboard and paper and chewed on it since he's teething and then spits it out on the floor. Seeing rice-krispy treat looking poop this morning was quite disgusting, lol. What if my dog swallowed something from his chew toy?
Well, if she swallows something she will probably just pass it later on unless it is too big for her to completely swallow and it gets stuck in her windpipe.
